Thulite is zoisite’s pink cousin, colored by manganese rather than the vanadium that gives tanzanite its blue, and it comes almost entirely from a handful of deposits in Norway. The color runs from soft rose to a deeper raspberry-red, often mottled with white quartz veining rather than solid throughout. We select rough for color saturation before cutting, since heavily quartz-veined material cuts into noticeably paler cabochons than denser pink rough.
